I watched this film yesterday and enjoyed it so much. It tells the incredibly moving divorce story of Scarlett Johansson (Actress/director) and Adam Driver (director). The film begins with the heartfelt reading of letters both have written about each other. The argument at the centre of the film reminded me of something someone has told me this year “Acting is doing things for real in false circumstances” – this definitely applies to the argument in the film as it is almost believable that Scarlett and Adam are really having an argument. Adam Driver’s performance is absolutely phenomenal and his rendition of Being Alive from Company manages to be touching, emotional and also to convey the way he is feeling in the films story, all of this is accompanied by his gorgeous vocals, which I have got to say did slightly surprise me as I didn’t expect him to be good at singing but he really is amazing. Scarlett Johansson’s performance is also wonderfully touching, particularly with her acting as an actress in the film (if that makes any sense :’D). The relationship between both acting peers is beautiful to watch. I would definitely give the film 5 stars out of 5 and could definitely see the film winning an Oscar this year. If you haven’t watched this film yet I would thoroughly recommend it, it is on Netflix at the moment and is definitely worth the watch.
