Timothée Chalamet’s acting in this film is absolutely incredible and I am not just saying that because I love the work he’s done. He brings just the right raw emotion to Nic Sheffs character in this film adaptation of the memoirs both Nic’s father (David Sheff- ‘Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Sons Addiction) and Nic (Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines – read more on my previous post!).
Timothée is really able to show the struggle that Nic goes through in order to eventually recover.
Both Steve Carrell and Timothée depict a poignant picture of Nic and David’s stories. Seeing Steve Carrell as a caring and emotional father was very refreshing for me as I had only ever seen him in comedic roles up to now. I would give this film 5 stars out of 5 and definitely recommend giving it a watch, but making sure you have a box of tissues to hand as I cried!
