YouTube – why I stopped making videos

Don’t get me wrong I love YouTube. I love watching the videos which creators make and enjoying them and being entertained by them. But I wanted to explain to everyone why I have chosen to stop making videos.

First things first I don’t think I have anything interesting to post videos about and I really don’t want to make those ‘cliché’ videos because that just isn’t me. I think it would be boring and I would just be making videos for the sake of making videos which obviously isn’t the point of YouTube.

But perhaps most importantly is that making the videos I used to make puts me in a very vulnerable position. Yes I do get the odd nice things but I also had to put up with trolls and opinions of other people which can be pretty nasty. So I have decided to start this blog instead as it is a less vulnerable way of putting my opinions/suggestions/reviews out there. Also these days YouTube seems to have a lot of drama that comes with it. I hope anyone who watched my videos can understand why I am choosing to do this. I want to protect my vulnerability and I hope that this is understandable. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for my next post! 🙂

Beautiful Boy

Timothée Chalamet’s acting in this film is absolutely incredible and I am not just saying that because I love the work he’s done. He brings just the right raw emotion to Nic Sheffs character in this film adaptation of the memoirs both Nic’s father (David Sheff- ‘Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Sons Addiction) and Nic (Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines – read more on my previous post!).

Timothée is really able to show the struggle that Nic goes through in order to eventually recover.

Both Steve Carrell and Timothée depict a poignant picture of Nic and David’s stories. Seeing Steve Carrell as a caring and emotional father was very refreshing for me as I had only ever seen him in comedic roles up to now. I would give this film 5 stars out of 5 and definitely recommend giving it a watch, but making sure you have a box of tissues to hand as I cried!

Tweak by Nic Sheff

Hi there, my first review for this blog is going to be (drumroll please…) a BOOK! Which thoroughly interested me. I saw the film adaptation of the book first which already had caught my attention (Beautiful Boy), because it had my male acting idle (Timothée Chalamet) cast as the lead role. I know what you’re thinking – always read the book before the film! But seeing the film only made me want to read Nic Sheffs memoire more.

The emotions which you experience when reading the book are extraordinary. I have now read the book twice and still get annoyed at Nic when he relapses! I would 100% definitely give this memoire 5 stars and I would thoroughly recommend it to teenagers and adults to read, if they have seen the film or if they are just interested in addiction and substance abuse and want to read what addiction is experienced as first-hand. The road that Nic went down was incredibly difficult and his addiction to Crystal Meth really messed up his life and not only that but his health and you can understand all of this by reading his memoir.

Also if you enjoy this then the Father’s (David Sheff) companion memoire ‘Beautiful Boy’ is also incredible to read. Nic’s book describes what his experience of being addicted was like but the father’s story is extremely emotional and shows the tough times that his son put him through. And of course if you are still interested after reading both books and would like to see how the film was made and the story of the film then of course go and see the (excellent, 5 star!!!) film ‘Beautiful Boy’ starring Steve Carrell as the father David Sheff and Timothée Chalamet as the son , Nic Sheff struggling with drug addiction.
